How to set up a MetaMask wallet

Let’s say you’ve completed all the necessary steps and installed the MetaMask extension to your browser. What’s next? Creating a wallet, of course! This will also take you just a few minutes if you follow our little guide below.

1. Click on the MetaMask extension and press “Get Started”.

2. If you already have a wallet, click on “Import Wallet”. Otherwise, press “Create a Wallet” to set up a new MetaMask wallet.

3. In the next window, click on “I agree” if you’d like to help improve MetaMask or press “No Thanks” to proceed.

4. Create a password for your MetaMask wallet. Make sure to use a strong password, yet the one you can remember since you’ll be using it quite frequently.

Never reveal your password to any third party unless you want them to take on full control over your funds.

5. Click on the “Click here to reveal secret words”, and MetaMask will show you the seed phrase for wallet recovery. Make sure to write it down and store it in a safe place because it is the only way to recover your funds if you lose access to the wallet. In case you lose the seed phrase, your wallet and funds will be lost forever, so it shouldn’t be taken lightly.

Keep your seed phrase safe and private, never reveal it to a third party. Otherwise, they will get full access to your wallet and funds.

6. As you save the seed phrase, click on the “Next” button and confirm the backup phrase by clicking on the words in the order you saw them on the previous screen. Then, click “Confirm”.

Never reveal your secret backup phrase to anyone not to lose control over your wallet and funds.

7. Voila! You have created your MetaMask wallet and can now get the most out of dApps and cryptocurrencies.

Please, note: To take care of your funds’ security, you should never share your seed phrase or the private key in MetaMask with anyone, unless you are ready to grant them full access to your funds.
